Insanity of Motherhood

Motherhood, marriage, and midlife.

Ready, Set…Wait

A conversation between a mother and a little boy.

“I’m heading out to the store.  Does anyone want to go with me?” – Mother

“What store are you going to, Momma?” – Little Boy

“Target.” – Mother

“Oh yeah.  I want to go.  Can I get a toy?” – Little Boy

“Um, do you have any money?” – Mother

“I got five bucks.” – Little Boy

“Okay, sure.  You need to pick up your legos and then we can go.  I am going to put away some laundry and I’ll be right back.  Okay?” – Mother

“Okay, Momma.” – Little Boy

Mother walks away from living room.  Mother puts laundry away.

“Are you ready?” – Mother (calls from another room)

“Yes.” – Little Boy (calls back)

Mother walks back into living room.

What’s going on?  I though you said you were ready?” – Mother

“I’m ready.  I just need to build a few more things.  You can sit down and wait for me.” – Little Boy

  1. I so love your conversations with your kids! This one, in particular, could have been between me and my kids 😉 Great!

  2. story of our lives as mothers…waiting and waiting :0)

  3. The picture captures it beautifully! My boys love Legos and, when they are building, they insist on finishing before we go anywhere. This could be my house! 😉

  4. That’s such a boy thing to say …. how funny 🙂
