Insanity of Motherhood

Motherhood, marriage, and midlife.

A Girl Walked into a Bar

A conversation between a young woman, her friend, a young man and his friend.

Two young women walk into a crowded bar.  Both women stand near table of two young men.

“I’m going to the bar to get us something to drink.  What do you want?” – Female friend

“A beer.  Hey, come back right away, okay?  I don’t want to be by myself all night.” – Young woman

Friend walks away.  Several minutes go by.  Young woman looks for friend.  Young woman begins conversation with young man at nearby table.

“Do you want to dance?” – Young woman

“Who are you talking to?” – Young man

“You.” – Young woman

“Okay.” – Young man

Young woman and young man go out on dance floor.  Both dance several songs, then return to table.

“You are cute.  Have you always been good-looking or are you just practicing?” – Young woman

“Who are you talking to?” – Young man

“You.” – Young woman

“Oh.” – Young man (BIG SMILE)

Young man leans over to male friend and whispers.

“Do you know this girl?” – Young man

“No.” –  Male friend

“Well, she is with me.” – Young man

My Mom used to always say to me, “Nate, you’re never going to meet a nice guy in a bar.”  Well, she was wrong.  Twenty years ago today, I met the nicest man I have ever known.  Not only did I meet him, I married him.

Happy Anniversary to the day I met my wonderful husband…in a bar.

  2. ❤ Happy Anniversary ❤

PS-My hubby and I met at a bowling alley. 🙂

  3. You agressive bar fly! it’s a good thing your friend took a while getting the drinks.
I think you got married just to prove your mom wrong.
Happy anniversary! May you continue to prove your mother wrong for many more years.

  4. I love how I met my husband stories. Yours was a great one.
I met mine at a dance. I was a strait-laced girl. It didn’t take him long to corrupt me.
Don’t you just love it when you can prove your mom wrong?

  5. Happy A. I love that you write so happily about your husband and life

  6. CONGRATULATIONS NATE! I met my wonderful man in a bar too… Wouldn’t change a thing! Blessings to you!

  7. Aw! What a lovely story. Happy 20th anniversary – and here’s to many more years of happiness!

  8. So sweet! Just goes to show that the “rules” don’t always apply. Congrats. 🙂

  9. Congrats! Most people meet on line today, isn’t that crazy? I met my husband on a blind date. He was, eh, OK. Then he kissed me the first time and that was it. He was the one. When he came to pick me up a few days later, he rolled up on a Harley. That was the final nail in my single coffin. I lusted for both, and fell in love with both. After 41 years together, we still ride Harleys, and I still love them both.
