New blogging year and new idea for my blog.
It is called, Question of the Day. Basically, I will ask a question and write an answer for it. Simple enough, right?
Today’s question of the day is, ‘Am I Sexy?’
Being sexy is easy for some people. The wake up with sexy hair, put on sexy clothes and walk in sexy ways. When they enter a room people say thing like, “Wow, they are hot.” This is not me. Or what I should say is, it has not been me lately.
Last weekend my girlfriend and I went out shopping. I needed candy for the boys’ Easter baskets and wanted some new makeup.
My friend suggested we do a little clothes shopping. To be specific, she wanted to go to Victoria’s Secret.
“Why do you want to go there?” – Me
“I want to pick up a few cute things to wear.” – Hattie (fake name)
It had been years, many years, since I stepped in a Victoria’s Secret store. Frankly, I was not interested.
As I walked into the store, I felt uncomfortable. It was as if I did not belong. All the bra displays showed nothing similar to the practical bra I was wearing. And the underwear (panties as Victoria calls them) were nowhere near as comfortable looking, as mine.
My girlfriend wanted some new things. She suggested I have a look. I glanced down at the round table filled with hundreds of lace items.
“These are my favorite. Look at all the great colors. They are so comfortable, especially the thongs.” – Hattie
“Comfortable and thongs are two words that do not go together.” – Me
“Look at this pair. They are so flattering.” – Hattie
I glanced at my friend’s size 4 figure.
“Of course they are flattering…on you. You do not have a squishy belly. If I wore a pair of those, my gut and butt would hang out.” – Me
“Come on. Live a little. Your husband would love these.” – Hattie
It has been a while I have worn anything so sheer, tiny and lacy. I looked down at the table of undergarments. I asked myself, ‘Am I sexy enough to wear something like that?’
I took a deep breath and grabbed a lacy item.
Turns out I can sexy and a mom. Two words that don’t always go together.
