After returning home from running errands yesterday, I noticed a few things different about my home. Actually, a lot of things were different.
I had a sneaky suspicion of how the situation happened. I decided to gather evidence to find out what or who caused the situation to occur.
Hmm…big clunky shoes in the middle of the entrance way. Shoe basket is less than three feet away.
Wet swimsuit on the garage floor. Must love the water.
Empty toilet paper roll. Feel bad for the next guy.
Personal grooming items left out. Must have been a lot of work. Too tired to put things away.
Towels in a heap on the floor. Unable to bend at the knees to pick things up.
Overflowing clothes hamper. Obviously, vision impaired unable to notice when things are full.
Someone or something must have been hungry. Very hungry. Lots empty wrappers and dirty dishes.
Ah ha! I believe we have found the culprit. The evidence is overwhelming. It is a teenager.
Now comes the tricky part. How to get the teen to clean the mess up.
Doing a little guest blogging for my friend, at Me Myself and Kids today. He is a fellow parent blogger, high school teacher and talented writer. He has two young boys and my blog about the teens, reminds him of his future life. Please read today’s blog and find out more about Me Myself and Kids. Check it out!

Good luck with that! Let me know how it works and I’ll try it on this end!
Wait, I thought you were going to give me suggestions Michelle.
That’s a lot of destruction. You’re right. Had to be a teenager. Or maybe one of my grandsons.
Teenagers are very destructive.
Looks very familiar. My 18 year old daughter leaves a trail behind her as she walks through the house. She is generally pretty good about clearing up after herself. Once, when she was about 13, I gathered everything she left lying about, including rubbish, and threw it all out the morning the rubbish truck came by. Gone were several of her favorite things, and worse, several of her books and Cd’s. Needless to say, that fixed her issues with just leaving stuff sitting about for days on end. And no, I did not replace the items. She had to earn the money to replace them. OK, so I’m a MEAN mom, sue me.
